If you are using this checklist in preparation of adding materials and equipment to improve quality, confer with your technical assistance consultant to prioritize items you would like to purchase.

#18 Blocks

Interlocking blocks (e.g., Legos) do NOT count as blocks.

** “Some,” and, “Enough” will vary depending on the ages and developmental abilities of the children in the group

3.1 “Some” blocks are accessible

3.2 At least 5 accessories for blocks accessible for children 24 months and older

5.1 “Enough” blocks are accessible for each age group observed

7.2 Requires large hollow blocks for older toddlers/twos

**Accessories should enhance, rather than detract from block play. If use of vehicles or other toys interfere with building, credit is not given.

#19 Dramatic Play

*Small pretend play materials found in block or fine motor areas do not count in scoring this item.

**Purses and totes should not pose a choking hazard. Necklaces or scarves should not be used. Dresses or pants should be short enough to avoid tripping problems.
